Code of Conduct

It takes everyone’s efforts to create a positive dance experience.

Innis Dance Studios is committed to providing safe, exciting and educational classes for each of our dancers in a disciplined but enjoyable environment.

At Innis Dance Studios it is recognised that although not all students will wish to pursue a career in dance, it is essential to provide every child with the opportunity to achieve their personal best.

We believe that dance “comes for the heart” and “feeds the soul” and we do our best to keep a happy, friendly, fun and safe atmosphere.
However, we also strongly recognize that, to become a dancer, a certain amount of discipline is needed in and out of class and all students, teachers and parents are expected to be polite and respectful to all around them.

In order to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all students, we ask that families follow the studio’s code of conduct.

Students:

Be respectful to teachers at all times

No talking while the teacher is teaching

Accept dance corrections without argument (teachers give corrections to students to enhance their skills and technique)

Arrive to class on time – late arrival is disruptive to the teacher and other dancers

Students are expected to attend ALL classes.  Missing lessons puts YOU and YOUR CLASS behind!!! (senior students please note:  if you are absent you will need to organize a fellow class member to “catch you up” as teachers cannot re-teach choreography)

Practice at home regularly to ensure that choreography is not held up because you cannot remember your routines

Stretch regularly

Correct uniform must be worn at all times (this shows respect for yourself, your teacher and your fellow students)

Hair should be worn in a bun at all times

Correct footwear  is required in all classes and SHOULD NOT be worn outside in the carpark – Please use waiting area to change shoes

Chewing gum and eating during class is not permitted

Please leave all valuables at home –  Innis Performing Arts Academy is not responsible for lost or stolen property

DO NOT wait in the carpark or playground before and after class – please stay in the designated “waiting area”

Bullying will not be tolerated in any form (ie verbal, physical, emotional).  Any evidence or suspicions of bullying should be reported to your teacher IMMEDIATELY

Students should arrive to class with a positive attitude, ready to dance!

Parents:

Please drop off and pick up dancer(s) on time

All students are told that if their parent is late collecting them, that they need to wait INSIDE the dance studio.  If you are late, please collect them from inside the studio and inform the teacher

Teachers must be informed if anyone other than the student’s parent or guardian is to be collecting them

Do not take it upon yourself to take another person’s child out of the studio (even if you know them really well).  If a parent is late collecting their child – the child is to wait in the STUDIO – with the TEACHER

Please ensure your dancer is dressed appropriately

Parents are not permitted inside the dance studio during class

Please keep your approach to the teachers in between classes to a minimum, as it is another classes allocated time

Please ensure all fees and payments are kept up-to-date.  Please do not put us in the embarrassing situation of having to ask your child to sit out.

All absences should be reported by calling or leaving a message
